Hurricane Sandy – Branch and System Status Updates
All Branches are back
Updated 12:00 PM 11/06/2012
We hope that this note finds that you and your loved ones are safe in the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy. As storm recovery proceeds, we want you to know that you can count on Webster to be there to help.
All branch locations are back up and open for business. As we turn our attention to helping those most in need, please consider donating to the Red Cross. On our customer’s behalf, we donated $10,000 immediately after the storm to get things going.

You are the best bank in the world. Your customer service is exemplary. That was so very cool that you sent out a note to all customers to help them. You continue to amaze me and I wouldn’t switch for anything. I love your online banking and I really appreciate the service at my local branch – Newington. I’ve dealt with a lot of banks in my life. I deal with a lot of banks today because I am a bookkeeper with multiple customers and Webster still tops them all! Thanks.

I just have a question.
Would there have been a reason why I could not make a deposit at the Wigwam Rd and Wolcott St ATM locations in Waterbury on Sunday and again Monday AM. The response I got was that this type of transaction was not available..? I just could not understand why. I eventually went to the drive-up window Monday morning and made the deposit. The teller did not know anything about it. It was a time critical deposit for a mortgage payment for a rental property I own. If you can explain why the deposit feature was not available – -that would be great. Thanks.

Hi Chuck – thanks for reaching out. We are sending your comment to our ATM team and will reply back once we hear back from them. We apologize in advance for the frustration this caused and will figure it out.

Very helpful to have this blog with up-to-date info about which branch offices are still affected by Sandy. Thanks!

i just tried to make a purchase at a grocery store, and the transaction would not go through. i have more than suffiecient funds in my account, and had to turn away with no food, as i did not have cash on me, and can’t get to the nearest open location due to the storm. why exactly would this happen?

Theolene,
I’m really sorry to hear about this. As you can imagine, we should talk about the specifics of your account in a more secure place. If you’d like, can you email me a good number to reach you? I’ll have somebody from our office of the president get in contact with you. Also, all of our Customer Care agents would be able to help you. So, if you would prefer to call us directly, just give us a call at 1.800.995.9995. The care center is not too busy right now so I do not think you would need to wait very long, if at all.
Thanks,
Greg

Just getting a little concerned. I spoke with someone yesterday as to my $1200 account balance being missing and I emailed today. I’m a little worried that no one is getting back to me. I am unable to get gas or food at this time. The person I spoke with (Chris?) did not mention any power outages at the bank so I am not sure why this is not a priority.

Hi Donna – I’ve sent your comment to the head of our call center and asked them to give you a call ASAP.

Thank you Dawn for your quick and helpful assistance.
It is much appreciated.

why is the stoughton ma branch closed? During lunch on a Friday!! This bank has outages much too often. I have decided to relocate my business to another bank, one that can stay open during the day!

Hi Jason – this branch was robbed today. We apologize for the inconvenience. It opened back up at 1:20pm.

I just wanted to express some dissatisfaction with Webster Bank as a result of this disaster. I’ve been a customer for longer than I can remember, at least 10 years. When all the power was out on the shoreline, I went to two different banks – both without power and ATMs not working – to withdraw money (for a generator). I ended up using a bank that had power and was charged a service fee. I called Webster to explain the situation and requested the service fee be waived. I had to fight for 10 minutes before the representative agreed to waive the fee. Then he tried to up sell me to an account that had no ATM fees. I never use another ATM unless I absolutely have to and in this case I felt it was justified. Not good.

Jesse,
I’m really sorry to hear about that experience. Alice, our executive in charge of the customer care center was hoping to speak with you to learn more. Could I pass along a good number to reach you at? If so, please email gjacobi@websterbank.com.
Thanks,
Greg

I would just like to follow up and say that the response to this has been nothing short of amazing. Thank you very much. Confidence restored!

It appears you are giving out a different Customer Service number, than I am used to calling. I’ve called the 800-325-2424. Is this other number a different/newer number that is supposed to be used now? Can you please tell me the correct one? I live in Bristol, if that matters at all. Thank you!

Debbie,
That service number works as well. The number we have been using is our online banking service number but in reality, they all go to the same place.
Thanks,
Greg

Hello,
Trying to access online banking and have not been able to for over 20 hours and the message I get on Safari is that the server is not responding to the webpage I am trying to access. Please help as I need to transfer funds to cover checks written and another large electronic debit. I am currently in the UK, maybe that is part of the problem?
Nov 08, 2012 @ 09:04:47
Please contact our Customer Care Center 1.800.325.2424 and they will be able to assist you with the transfer. For online banking, we are working on customer connection problems. We can look at your problem specifically if you can provide some information about your connection when you call in.
