Celebrate at the Office with Budget-Friendly Potlucks

Food is a great way to bring together people of all nationalities and ages at the office. Anytime a member of our work family hits a milestone, we celebrate by throwing a potluck in that person’s honor. Since we are a diverse group, we get to sample a variety of flavors from different corners of the world. Not only is this a tasty way to celebrate, but bringing in your own food can save you and your company lots of money versus going out to eat.

If you are a shy person who wants to shine at work, the thought of free food will appeal to many people. Take initiative and ask if you can arrange a potluck during your next staff meeting or in honor of a coworker. Use the potluck to build relationships with your peers as you sample different cuisines from around the globe without leaving the office.

There are over 100 distinct regional cuisines in India; however, I’m partial to my Mom’s home state of Gujarat [Goo-joo-raht]. For a vegetarian Indian fare, check out Manjula’s Kitchen. I like this website because it reminds me of my mom’s cooking. Manjula’s biography says she’s from North India but it appears that most of the recipes are influenced by the region of Gujarat.

Puerto Rican/Caribbean

If you like the spicier side of life and want some quick and easy recipes with Latin flavor check out this website chocked full of healthy recipes from Cuba, Spain and Mexico.

American

Enjoy gawking at the food on television? Get inspired from Food Gawker, which is a collection of picture perfect recipes submitted from food bloggers from around the world.

For those who like Southern cooking, you’ll be partial to the recipes on Southern Living to add some Southern charm and comfort to your next potluck.
